World Health Organization Statement
Dr. Michael Repacholi, Occupational and Environmental Health coordinator for WHO, told reporters on August 11, 1999 "As for these sleeves (shields) that are supposed to absorb the radiation, we wouldn't recommend them because you could be redistributing the radiofrequency field from the antenna and would be modifying the operation of the phone."
During the summer of 2000, the World Health Organization issued an updated fact sheet, adding "scientific evidence does not indicate any need for radio frequency-absorbing covers or other absorbing devices on mobile phones. They cannot be justified on health grounds and the effectiveness of many such devices in reducing RF exposure is unproven."
